The Kampala Kids League (KKL) is a sports programme founded in 1998 to help boys and girls aged 4-14+ years in Kampala to improve their lives through sport.
In the last 12 years we are proud to have had over 840 teams to compete in over 50 KKL football, basketball, baseball and cricket seasons and over 16,000 children from over 180 schools taking part.
The highlight of a KKL year is The Euro Tour in which the best players within a certain age category compete in overseas tournaments eg in Denmark's Tivoli Cup and Sweden's World Youth Cup in Gothenburg – the largest youth football tournament in the world.
Since 2002 KKL has been invited to send teams to compete in European football tournaments. Of the 23 tournaments KKL teams we have won 20 of them
Manage project staff and funded programming requirements
Submit programme reports and accountability in a timely fashion to donors and funders
Serve as contact/interface for local and international donor representatives
Plan and execute the different parts of multiple projects simultaneously
Development Work
Seek and secure funding / sponsorship from local corporations through grant writing and research.
Creation of baseline indicators and collection of statistics to support funding applications
Contribute to growth & sustainability of programmes
Periodic review of systems and policies
Improve existing Monitoring and Evaluation mechanisms within projects and assist in developing new ones
Representing The Kids League at training and capacity building workshops
Management
Compliance with organizational Policies and Best Practice
Submit requisite programme reports and accountability to the Board of Management
Sports Leagues
Selection and training of coaches,
Procurement of equipment,
Planning and organizing of sports sessions and league activities
PR and Liaising with media outlets
Organize and run Awards days
Person Specification
Relate well with children in family, school, community & institutional settings
Be able to work with a high level of independence in meeting targets
Good sense of humour
Honest
Ability to work in both a local setting as well as with the international community.
Ability to manage a cosmopolitan staff in both an office environment and during training sessions out in the community is mandatory
Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
Ability to manage and work well with teams
Enjoy participation in sport
Flexible – willing to work designated weekends
Ability to work under pressure
A keen interest in sport is highly desirable
Participant in sport an advantage
Project Management experience would be beneficial
Willing to travel upcountry
Qualifications & Experience:
A Social Science or related degree in Development Work, International Development or Sport in Development or Business Management
Experience of working within the NGO arena
Competence in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Driving License an advantage
