Richmond Vale Academy offers the A-certificate "Fighting with the Poor" in St-Vincent and the Grenadines.

The A-certificate is an 18 months study program, where we combine theoretical studies at the Academy and practical studies in projects, as well in the Caribbean, as in different project in Latin America. The program is cooperation between Richmond Vale Academy, One World University and Humana People to People.

The program in short:
6 months of studies in Richmond Vale Academy in St Vincent, study about history, causes and conditions of poverty, global warming, international politics, healthy living, inequality, the future of the Poor and Latin American studies. Preparations to work in the project.

6 months of service in a project in a Latin American country with Humana People to People, which is running different community development projects in Ecuador and Belize. Working with grassroots communities in those countries and continuing studies.

6 months Journal period back in the Academy, sharing experiences with the world, creating a portfolio, bringing the Voice of The Poor, working in St Vincent communities, finalising studies and participating in exams through distance learning at One World University. Graduation; discussions and planning your Future.

Climate Activists for St. Vincent & the Grenadines

Join a 6 months intensive program with studies, courses and action to make the small island nation of St. Vincent Climate Compliant.

The standing action conference started in 2012 and will run til 2021.

A small group of teachers and students from Richmond Vale Academy will together with a big group of Vincentians make our island and people ready for climate change.

We have cleaned up 9 tons of trash from rivers and beaches, planted 10,000 trees, set up 2 model gardens, produced 20 TV and Radio Programs and taught 2000 people face to face.
The Richmond Vale Academy is a model school and farm on the island. We try to grow and produce our own food, mostly organic.

Through research, creation and implementation of projects in nearby villages, promotion, and by example, students will work to prepare the people of the Caribbean for the dangers of Global Warming.

Participants will also experience community living, cooking, cleaning, harvesting food, garden farming, building furniture, and other skills needed to be a self-sufficient leader who can do anything they put their mind to. In the end, the program will train students to be environmental activists that are able to make a stand for the future of this world.

There's no special requirements but you should have open-mind and be ready to work!

Start 1st of July and 1st of November.

Each volunteer's placement is a key part of our long-term strategy to develop the business capacity of Harare's local entrepreneurs. Once in Harare, each volunteer will assess the progress made since the last assignment, and reconfirm their objectives with the local business before beginning to address their primary areas of focus. Typical areas of focus include: organizational needs assessment; creating, monitoring and evaluating budgets; and business development and entrepreneur skills development.

Placements start at 250, depending on the length of your placement.
