Join the Climate Compliance Conference for 1 or 6 months

Intensive studies about sustainability, organic farming, the importance of self-sufficiency in impoverished communities, the risks/effects of Global Warming and Climate Change in the Caribbean, etc. Through research, creation and implementation of projects in nearby villages, promotion, and by example, students will work to prepare the people of the Caribbean for the dangers of Global Warming. Participants will also experience community living, cooking, cleaning, harvesting food, garden farming, building furniture, and other skills needed to be a self-sufficient leader who can do anything they put their mind to. In the end, the program will train students to be environmental activists that are able to make a stand for the future of this world.

There's no special requirements but you should have open-mind and be ready to work!

In a typical day
Volunteers will be involved with studies about sustainability, organic farming, the importance of self-sufficiency in impoverished communities, the risks/effects of Global Warming and Climate Change in the Caribbean.

Richmond Vale Academy offers the A-certificate "Fighting with the Poor" in St-Vincent and the Grenadines.

The A-certificate is an 18 months study program, where we combine theoretical studies at the Academy and practical studies in projects, as well in the Caribbean, as in different project in Latin America. The program is cooperation between Richmond Vale Academy, One World University and Humana People to People.

The program in short:
6 months of studies in Richmond Vale Academy in St Vincent, study about history, causes and conditions of poverty, global warming, international politics, healthy living, inequality, the future of the Poor and Latin American studies. Preparations to work in the project.

6 months of service in a project in a Latin American country with Humana People to People, which is running different community development projects in Ecuador and Belize. Working with grassroots communities in those countries and continuing studies.

6 months Journal period back in the Academy, sharing experiences with the world, creating a portfolio, bringing the Voice of The Poor, working in St Vincent communities, finalising studies and participating in exams through distance learning at One World University. Graduation; discussions and planning your Future.


Richmond Vale Academy is located in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a small island state in the Eastern Caribbean.

At Richmond Vale Academy you will live in teams composed of other humanitarians from all over the world truing to become development instructors.

Fighting Shoulder to Shoulder with The Poor.

This program is an 18 months program and students earn an A-certificate with One World University.

The first six months you study about the situation in the world, the situation of the poor and about creating a sustainable future.

Then you will take action with The Poor in Belize or Ecuador together with the NGO Humana People to People for six months.

The last six months of the program is called "The Journal Period" where you act as the voice of the Poor, and share your experiences to mobilize people to take action - through radio, TV, internet, lectures in schools or on the streets. You will continue your studies; take your final exams and work towards your future efforts for the Poor.
